Joanna Jędrzejczyk, born August 18, 1987 in Olsztyn, Poland, is a former professional fighter in mixed martial arts (MMA) and Muay Thai. She is considered one of the greatest female strawweight fighters of all time, praised by many, including Daniel Cormier, for putting the weight class “on the map” in MMA. Jędrzejczyk holds many records in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), including most successful strawweight championship defenses, most consecutive strawweight championship victories, and is the first Polish champion as well as the first European women’s champion.

Joanna began discovering Muay Thai as a teenager and has won six medals (five gold) at the IFMA World Muaythai Championships. She then switched to MMA in May 2012 and won her first nine fights. Jędrzejczyk won the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship in March 2015 by defeating Carla Esparza at UFC 185. Over the next two years, she continued her undefeated streak with five successful defenses of the championship.
